About Sharon (she/her)

I am a daughter, sister, mother, auntie, grandmother, wife, ally, and friend. I have lived in Barrie since 1996 with my husband Rick. Our two daughters completed university and are now indpenendant and building their own careers and homes.

HONDA: My 30-year career at Honda of Canada Mfg. included roles progressing from Receptionist in 1991 to the Engine Plant Administration Leader in 2021. I specialized in employee relations and engagement, training and development, health and safety, business planning, budgeting, and cost analysis for a production plant with an annual budget exceeding $100M.

I learned many valuable lessons while working a Honda, the most important one being to ‘go to the spot’ and speak to the people involved. It is there, from them, where we will discover the root cause(s) and best solutions to our problems.

.

Business and Professional Women (BPW) of Barrie: I am a member of the Business and Professional Women (BPW) of Barrie. Since 1946 this group has worked towards improving the economic, political, social, and employment conditions of women locally and around the globe.

Candidate for Barrie Ward 6 Councillor: I single-handedly ran an election campaign that designed marketing brochures, signs, social media (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and LinkedIn), a website, and the canvassing 7,000+ homes in Barrie.

Community Support: I am a passionate community builder who supports Ripple of Kindness Barrie, Dress for Success Orillia and Barrie, Barrie Women and Children’s Shelter, Barrie Native Friendship Centre, Georgian College Women’s inTUITION, Ryan’s Hope, Cornerstone to Recovery, and #ProjectMapleLeaf.
